Going Net-Zero In The Palm Oil Industry: The Role of GHG Footprint Assurance And Carbon Project Certifications

The palm oil industry has always come under intense scrutiny. Nevertheless, the environmental component of ESG for the oil palm industry can be improved through further reductions of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and investment in carbon projects.

Effective monitoring and continuous reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is critical in promoting sustainable palm cultivation and production. Through GHG footprint assurance, producers can measure and verify their emissions, identify areas for improvement and implement environmentally friendly practices. Carbon project certifications, provide a framework for oil palm producers to sell their carbon offset credits by investing in emission-reducing projects. Not only does this help mitigate the industry’s environmental impact, but it also helps provide an opportunity for cost recovery through carbon credit sales in the voluntary carbon market. The adoption of GHG footprint assurance and carbon project certifications enables the palm oil industry to take a significant step towards a more sustainable future. By prioritizing environmentally friendly practices and taking steps to offset carbon emissions, palm oil producers can help build a greener world for future generations.

This webinar is hosted by Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX) in collaboration with Control Union Malaysia and Macquarie Bank Limited. Join us in the movement towards a greener palm oil production journey and learn how GHG footprint assurance and carbon project certifications are driving change in the industry.
